Preparation

Cut tube with wood saw to length needed using the proper diameter for the weight to be supported.

Directions

  1. Dig holes twice as wide as tube diameter to 8" below frost line.
  2. Place 2" of gravel in the bottom of the hole
  3. Drive one vertical rebar into the ground at the centre.
  4. Place the tube and backfill or brace tube vertically with light lumber to hold in place.
  5. Fill tube with concrete to desired level. Rod the concrete to eliminate air pockets.
  6. Concrete should be poured evenly with a vibrator to eliminate air pockets.
  7. Place beam or post anchors in wet concrete.

For best results

If storing tubes vertically, use blocks to keep ground moisture away from bottom. If stored horizontally, they should be placed on level, full-length supports at least 4" above ground. Use plastic cover to protect forms from outdoor elements and allow ventilation so heat or moisture do not build up.
